Pilgrims office reopened in Lisbon after winter break

The Via Lusitana Association’s Pilgrims Office, “Informação ao Peregrino” (www.peregrino.info) reopened on March 1, following a temporary closure that began on November 1. The decision to close during the winter was due to the reduced number of pilgrims in those colder months of the year, making it unfeasible to keep the center open, when there are almost no visitors.

Located in the Church of Nossa Senhora da Conceição Velha, on Rua da Alfândega in Lisbon, this center aims to support pilgrims on their journey, assisting with their preparation and providing information about the Caminos de Santiago and Fátima. Visitors can obtain maps, guides, credentials, and advice on itineraries, accommodation, and other practical aspects of the journey. Additionally, the “Pilgrim’s Journal,” a notebook created to record the Camino experience, is available for purchase.

Since its opening in May 2024, approximately 850 visitors from 53 different nationalities have passed through the center, with notable numbers of Americans, Italians, Portuguese, and Spaniards.

With the reopening, the center has undergone some improvements, now being more comfortable and welcoming, with new furniture and decoration. It remains open every day from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM.
