IV Conferênce ‘On the Caminos de Santiago’ in Grijó
The IV Conference “Pelos Caminhos de Santiago” will take place on December 14th, at the Monastery of Grijó, with free entry. Organized by the Confraria de Santiago, from the São Salvador de Grijó parish, the conference will feature a series of debates and moments of sharing experiences about the spiritual and cultural journey of this major pilgrimage destination.
The event will begin at 2:00 PM with the reception of participants, followed by a presentation at 2:40 PM by cartoonist Pedro Silva. Throughout the afternoon, topics such as the history and evolution of the Caminos de Santiago, their influence on regional tourism and culture, as well as pilgrim testimonies and reflections on the future of the Caminos de Santiago, focusing on challenges and opportunities, will be discussed. The speaker lineup includes writer and pilgrim Luís Ferreira, hospitable and pilgrim Mónica Gonçalves, historian and general commissioner of the International Caminos de Santiago Colloquiums in São Pedro de Rates, Paulo Sá Machado, and Ana Rita Dias, president of the Portuguese Federation of the Caminos de Santiago.
In addition to the debates, attendees will be able to visit a photographic exhibition by Filipe Neto, photographer and pilgrim, and watch the screening of the film “O Nosso Caminho” (Our Path) by Pedro Gil de Vasconcelos at 2:50 PM. Harpist Júlia Santos will also perform at 4:10 PM.
The conference will be closed by Francisco Silva, and at 5:30 PM, a Porto de Honra will be served at the Noble Salon of the Grijó Parish.
