Albergaria-a-Velha promotes photography contest on the Camino de Santiago

The municipality of Albergaria-a-Velha is launching the Third Edition of its Photography Contest dedicated to the theme “Caminho de Santiago – Albergaria-a-Velha” (The Camino de Santiago – Albergaria-a-Velha), aiming to highlight this cultural route and its significance in the local identity.

Open to amateur and professional photographers over the age of 16, the contest is free to enter, and registrations must be completed online through the municipality’s website. Each participant may submit up to 10 original and unpublished photographs that have not won any previous awards. Entries must be sent in digital format (JPEG) via email to turismo@cm-albergaria.pt or through the WeTransfer platform.

Submissions are open from March 17 to June 1, 2025. After a pre-selection by the jury, the chosen images will be published on the municipality’s Facebook page for public voting from June 9 to June 30. The five photographs with the most reactions (“likes” or “loves”) will be the winners, provided they do not all belong to the same author.

The cash prizes are as follows: €175 for first place, €125 for second place, €75 for third place, and €50 for both fourth and fifth places. All participants will receive a certificate of participation. The results will be announced on July 3, with the prize-giving ceremony taking place the following day. To mark World Photography Day, the winning images will be displayed in an exhibition starting on August 19, 2025.
