Portuguese film about the Camino competes for another international award

The promotional film “Caminho Português de Santiago – Este é o Caminho” (Portuguese Camino — This is the way) is a finalist for the CIFFT “People’s Choice” Award 2024. This promotional video about the main Portuguese pilgrimage route to Compostela, produced in 2023 by Lightbox Film & Advertising, was created as part of the Communication and Promotion Project for the Portuguese Camino de Santiago, included in the PA2 – Minho Cultural Identity project (Estratégia PROVERE Minho Inovação). It involved four municipalities: Barcelos, Ponte de Lima, Paredes de Coura, and Valença.

Its narrative takes the viewer on “a remarkable journey through the territory of the four participating municipalities toward the tomb of the Apostle Santiago, following in the footsteps of a pilgrim recalling his path, with all its experiences and magical moments, in an itinerary filled with history, legends, and memories” according to the Ponte de Lima City Council.

This short film, now competing for the award, had already been recognized in October last year with the “Jury Special Award” at the official ceremony of the 11th edition of the Finisterra Arrábida Film Art & Tourism Festival, held in Sesimbra. It was later awarded silver in the “Tourism Products” category at the Japan World’s Tourism Film Festival, the first stage of the CIFFT 2024 Circuit. It is now competing in the “People’s Choice Award” category, and your vote matters.
