Winners of the International Photography Contest: Barcelos on the Camino de Santiago
The 2nd edition of the International Photography Contest “Barcelos on the Camino de Santiago”, organized by ACB Association – City of Barcelos albergue, has led to a free exhibition on display at Espaço Cultura until November 17, with the support of the Municipality of Barcelos. The initiative showcases 28 photographs captured in the Barcelos region, aiming to promote civic engagement and highlight the Portuguese Camino de Santiago, celebrating Pilgrimage and Jacobean Hospitality.
Wilson Silva won the contest with the photograph “Steps of Faith.” Mariana Lourenço took 2nd place with “Arrival in the Land of the Rooster,” and Márcio Fernandes came in 3rd with “Moment of Faith in the Matriz de Barcelos Church.”
The prizes were awarded by a jury consisting of Andréa Prestes (photography author and pilgrim, specializing in works related to the Camino de Santiago), Nuno Ferreira (from Turism of Porto and North of Portugal), Nuno Rodrigues (from the Barcelos Municipality and a pilgrim), Paulo Almeida Fernandes (historian and author of publications about the Camino de Santiago), and Xoan Arco da Vella (photographer). In addition to the specialized jury, there was also an online public vote, won by Nienke Timmerman with “Portugal and Australia come together.”
